Driving Test for Disabled Learner Drivers

Driving is a very important part of our lives. Every country has their own set of driving rules and every driver must follow these rules while driving on the roads. Before driving on the public places, every driver must pass the driving test and get the driving license. Each country has a different driving test process. The aim behind that process is to reduce the number of road accidents. The certified driving agencies test the learner’s driving skills and after he passes the entire test then he can drive on the road.

For UK drivers, DSA organizes the driving test and test the driver’s knowledge about driving and skills to drive in different conditions. DSA includes two parts; the first part is theory test. This part includes two sections. First section includes multiple choice questions and the second is a hazard perception test. Theory test is an online test which uses touch screen computers and learners must get minimum passing marks to pass the test.

After passing the theory test, learners move to the second part called practical driving test. DSA test the learner’s driving skills practically and learner must pass the practical part in order to get the driving license.

DSA provides special facilities for those drivers who has disabilities such as hearing difficulties, wheelchair access, suffering from Dyslexia, epilepsy and paraplegia, heavily pregnant or don’t understand English. When learners book the theory and practical test then they can ask for the special requirements.

If the learner is suffering from the above disease then he can use DSA special services. The learner can apply for these service requests when book the driving test. If you don’t read the English language, you can use the interpreter who translates English language in required language. You can bring your driving instructor as an interpreter during the test. While providing these services DSA give extra time for the test. You must provide proof and evidence for using these special services.

If you have hearing difficulties, the examiner tells about the process using written notes at the beginning of the test. The examiner uses the hand signals to give directions. You can bring your own interpreter.

If you are suffering from various diseases and your doctor tells that your physical and mental conditions are not fit for driving and your health conditions affect your driving abilities then you must stop driving. Surrender your driving license to DVLA if you got the driving license.
